In its “Road Map for Digital Planning and Construction”, which was presented in 2015, the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure set its sights on the widespread use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) in future federal infrastructure projects. The road map provides for the gradual introduction of BIM, with the aim of achieving an initial standardized level of performance for projects in the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure’s area of responsibility from 2020.
In October 2016, the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure commissioned the BIM4INFRA2020 working group to create important prerequisites for the implementation of the BIM road map over a period of two years. They include, in particular:
