On September 20, 2023, the openBIM Awards were presented by buildingSMART international in a ceremony in Lillestrøm, Norway, showcasing outstanding work and the faces behind the projects.

Our team from HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions and HOCHTIEF ViCon came out on top against strong international competition in the "Asset Management" category with the "Digital Twin for Highway Maintenance and Operation - Data-Driven Information Management along the Project Lifecycle" and won the openBIM Award. The jury was impressed by our innovative approach to BIM in operations with a central information model and selected use cases in the A6 freeway PPP project. Our digital twin of the A6 freeway was thus not only able to secure the national title of BIM Champion of buildingSMART Germany last year, but also to convince internationally this year.

HOCHTIEF is responsible for the six-lane expansion of the A6 freeway between Weinsberger Kreuz and Wiesloch/Rauenberg and for 30 years of operation and maintenance. Our team from HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions and HOCHTIEF ViCon has mapped the entire stretch with all structures and ancillary facilities in a management model, thus creating a digital twin. All information from the planning, construction and operating phases is made available here in a structured and networked form. This data can be analyzed intelligently and used for subsequent processes. Numerous use cases such as defect recording or accident management take advantage of this and provide new information at the same time.
